Your age is 18 to 21
Car rental options are very limited for people in this age category. Did you find a rental company that is willing to rent you a car? Then keep in mind there is a hefty surcharge for young drivers.
This surcharge can be as high as $/€20 per day at some rental companies. So a week (8 days) of renting a car with this surcharge can quickly add up to an extra $/€160.
Your age is 21 to 24 years
In Jordan, most rental companies will give you a car. However, the number of models you can choose from is limited. Also, rental companies still consider you to be a "young driver.” Therefore, they charge an average surcharge of $/€6.22 per day on top of the agreed rental price.
Is the main driver over 25, but the second or subsequent driver is not? Even then, a surcharge must be paid.
How much the young driver surcharge will be varies by the rental company. Therefore, read the terms and conditions of the different companies carefully. That way, you will know exactly what you will have to pay in total.
Some rental companies do not include the age surcharge in the amount payable on their websites. That’s why, you only pay the surcharge when you pick up the car. Each rental company has its own rules, so what applies to one may not apply to another.
You are 25 years or older
You can contact any rental company to rent a car. In order to rent, you must have held a valid driver’s license for at least one year. And luckily, because you’re old enough, you won’t have to pay the young driver's surcharge.
Maximum age
Some rental companies in Jordan have a maximum age limit. Are you older than this age? Then the choice of rental companies may be more limited, and a surcharge may apply. Our research has shown that this limit is 79 years at most rental companies.
